Coaching Staff

Francesco D'Agostino has been added as the men's soccer first assistant as announced by the Virginia B. and James O. Welch, Jr. '52 Head Coach for Harvard men's soccer, Pieter Lehrer.

 

"Francesco is a great person and superior coach whose outstanding eye for talent, his desire to play a relentless attacking style, and his willingness to embrace and throw himself into the process makes him a great fit for Harvard men's soccer," Lehrer said. "As a program that prides itself on a strong team culture that strives to excel on and off the field we are thrilled to welcome Frankie, another high achiever, onto our team. His knowledge, commitment, and sustained passion for excellence will provide an immediate impact." 

 

After attending Longmeadow High School, D'Agostino was co-captain at James Madison University, a top-25 team while he was there. After college, D'Agostino continued on to play semi-pro in Italy with Molfetta Sportiva, Melphicta Calcio, and Virtus Bitritto. In 2014, D'Agostino moved from playing to coaching and became an assistant and head recruiter for the UMass Lowell men's soccer program. In their Division 1 transition in 2016, D'Agostino helped guide UMass Lowell men's soccer team to their best finish in program history with a 13-1-2 record, ending the year ranked #3 in the RPI and #11 in the NSCAA Top 25 poll. 

 

The UMass Lowell men's soccer team went on to capture its first America East Regular Season Championship in school and program history and the coaching staff earned the America East Coaching Staff of the Year and NSCAA East Region Coaching Staff of the Year honors. Always looking forward, last year D'Agostino became the head coach of UMass Lowell women's soccer team, leading the program to its best finish since joining Division I in 2013.

To be a member of something as big as Harvard athletics is truly something special.  I would also like to thank UMass Lowell for my 4 plus years there. They gave me my start and trusted me to turn around the women's program which I feel we were able to accomplish. I feel good about the place the team is in and I wish all of the women the best of luck next season.  I see Harvard as the next step in my career and a new challenge. Harvard has a great history of very good teams and I am proud I can be a part of that. I look forward to starting and getting to know the team." 

 

In addition to his college coaching experience, D'Agostino was the head coach for the Boston Breakers Reserve Team for three seasons and is currently the head coach for the Boston Bolt in the PDL. During his tenure as head coach with the Boston Breakers Reserve Team the squad produced three consecutive undefeated regular seasons, 2014-2016, and an undefeated National Championship season. Each year the Boston Breakers improved going from Regional semi-finals to Regional Champions and national semi-finals to National Champions. 

 

D'Agostino holds an UEFA B license from the Italian Federation and a UEFA "A" license from the Irish Federation. 

 

A native of Springfield, Massachusetts, D'Agostino now resides with his wife Taia in Winthrop.

Mike Fucito returns to Harvard men's soccer after spending the past year as the assistant men's golf coach. 

 

After being named Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2004, Fucito went on to be a two-time All American (2007, 2008), a three-time All-Ivy League First Team selection (2006, 2007, 2008) and a two-time Academic All-Ivy First Team selection (2007, 2008). As a senior, he co-captained the men's soccer team. The Westford, Mass. native was also the 2009 recipient of the William J. Bingham Award which is given annually to the male member of the graduating class, who through integrity, courage, leadership, and ability on the athletic fields, has best served the high purpose of Harvard; typically, the "Top Male Athlete". 

 

Fucito also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from 2007-2009 and graduated with a degree in Psychology. 

 

In 2009, Fucito was drafted by the Seattle Sounders and played Major League Soccer for seven years before retiring to pursue his passion for golf. During his professional soccer career, he also contributed on the rosters for the Montreal Impact, Portland Timbers, and San Jose Earthquakes. 

 

An avid golfer, Mike was named the #16 ranked golfer by Golf Digest Magazine's list of Top 100 Professional Athlete Golfers (December 2015 issue). 

 

Fucito now resides in Boston.
